But for midcareer workers everywhere, the diverging paths ahead are especially stark: if we choose to recognize the talents of this group and help them adapt to workplace disruptions, we can prosper together. But if we stick with the status quo, a bad situation will only get worse.<\/p>\r\nThat is the key takeaway from a global survey\u2014the first of its kind\u2014to provide an in-depth view of individuals age 45-60 seeking or working in entry-level and intermediate roles. Indeed, according to hiring managers, the younger group greatly outperforms the age 45+ cohort in every area of evaluation. They add that 90% have as much \u2014 or more \u2014 potential to stay with the company long term. Requirements have become more stringent for 73% of entry level roles and for 63% of intermediate level roles.\r\n\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/section><section class=\"page-section collapse-top bumped-up--tall\">\r\n<div class=\"container\">\r\n\r\n<!--\r\n<h2 class=\"heading-xlarge\">It's tougher <span class=\"text-highlight text-highlight--cyan\">than ever<\/span> out there.<\/h2>\r\n-->\r\n<div class=\"shadow-box padded\" style=\"max-width: 700px; margin: 0 auto;\">\r\n<h3 class=\"heading-medium\">Those in under-represented communities <span class=\"text-highlight text-highlight--grey\">work much<\/span> harder to get a job offer.<\/h3>\r\n<div class=\"row flex flex-center wide-gutter dividers\">\r\n<div class=\"column medium-6\">\r\n\r\n<span class=\"stat enormous color-generation-red\">66%<\/span> <span class=\"stat-caption\">lowered their expectations<\/span>\r\n\r\n<\/div>\r\n<div class=\"column medium-6\">\r\n\r\n<span class=\"stat-caption\">And the majority were looking for something else in the first three months on the job.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/section><section class=\"page-section collapse-top training-is-key\">\r\n<div class=\"container\">\r\n<div class=\"row wide-gutter\">\r\n<div class=\"column medium-6\">\r\n<h2 class=\"heading-xlarge\"><span class=\"text-highlight text-highlight--grey\">Training is key<\/span> to midcareer <span class=\"text-highlight text-highlight--green\">success.<\/span><\/h2>\r\n<h3 class=\"heading-medium\">Training is valued by employers and 45+ individuals who have successfully switched.<\/h3>\r\nAcross the countries we surveyed, employers view reputable training and credentialing as being able to equate with years of experience in a job with adjacent skills, giving them more confidence when considering hiring an applicant. Employers\u2019 appreciation for training is shared by age 45+ individuals who have successfully switched jobs, a group that regards training as a significant step to employment. Among these switchers, 74% say that attending training helped them to secure their new position.\r\n\r\n<!--\r\n<h3 class=\"heading-medium\">But those who need it the most <span class=\"text-highlight text-highlight--grey\">don\u2019t value training.<\/span><\/h3>\r\n-->\r\n<h3 class=\"heading-medium\">But those who need it the most <span class=\"text-highlight text-highlight--grey\">are hesitant<\/span> to pursue training.<\/h3>\r\nOf age 45+ job seekers in our survey, 57% say they are not excited to pursue training, and less than 1% say that training makes them feel confident.
